Also the Google Sidebar gadget for Flickr is pretty sweet (#9 on the link). Its needs to be able to mix in my own photos though.
I love the innerwebs.

I haven’t told anyone anything in awhile in a permanent internet front page sort of way. That all changed today due to a little Firefox plug-in called ScribeFire (see raveller.com for details). But then again the updates to this thing are at an Annual pace now. I push most of my pictures to Flickr which may be one of the greatest things since sliced bread. I avoid the myspace and other assorted outlets. I mean I started this darn thing 10 years ago. This page in particular. 10 years of having stuff blinking under the The Half Closed Eye. It’s weird to think about.
Anyway on to news!
I am dating someone awesome. I have changed jobs. I’ve seen Jeff Tweedy and Son Volt live this year. I am going to Hawaii. I am learning to Scuba dive. I teach Judo about 3 nights of the week. I am going to Austin City Limits Music Festival again this year. I have two dogs. My sister now lives in Lawton. I’m over a third of century old. I like desserts and pizza and beer.

After small amount of turmoil trying to understand how ScribeFire can write to a custom Blogger blog (i.e. one that’s not hosted on blogspot.com) I now have the 5 different front ends for my “web empire” loaded into ScribeFire. Once installed, choose Add under the Blogs tab, then click Manually Configure select Custom Blog from the drop-down and click Next. Now select Blogger from the new drop-down and put http://www.blogger.com/feeds/_xxxxxx_/posts/full replacing the _xxxxxx_ with your blogId from Blogger. Enter your Blogger user-name and password and Voila! your blog is set-up. (In order find your blogId log on to Blogger and select the blog you want to add. In the address bar of you browser you should see something like http://www2.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=123456789012345 ).
Things I like lately:
The “Blog” of “Unnecessary” Quotation Marks
The Office Sign Project
Passive Aggressive Notes
Firefox Add-ins
POP peeper
Google Desktop Sidebar

I’ve actually progressed on novel writing and picture taking and all sorts of things. Just not on this site. I’m planning on killing some frills off the cable bill which may help me concentrate on the Orange Juice. If you know what I mean. If you do, tell me, I’m at a complete loss as to what that means.
Anyway, it’s gonna be Fall in a month, and that means a couple of things: the heat wave may be passing, and it’s football season. So I’m planning on getting outside a little more and watching a little more football. And maybe, just maybe, we’ll learn something.
I have no idea what.

…may or may not be here. I was advised that Monkey Day was today: July 21st, so I got on the stick and made a strip. But the web disagrees as to which day is Monkey Day. Wikipedia claims it occurs on December 14th. But this web Greeting Card company claims it happens today. So I’m confused. The Wiki Entry is like only 4 months old though and it seems like it is a self promoting entry. The greetings card thing is just… weird.
We may go through this again in December

OH… look at me I’m James… I make MonkeyProject comics… I’m special… You have to wait for new strips while I drink beer and play Never Winter Nights…
No way will he leave this up for long!!! He’ll have to get off his butt and make us a new comic now!
No monkeys were harmed in the creation of this strip. Brought to you by your friendly neighborhood MS Paint.

While lazing around seems like an alright thing to do, others might find that reading Internet funnies is a worthwhile occupation of time. By all means, head over to monkeyproject.com. The complete lack of new Opinions may be a direct result of the sheer amount of work going into producing what are probably empheral wastes of internet space. For new folks the old Opinions may still hold some humor value though. Don’t expect any new Downloads> either, even if the existing ones are impressive. The only thing that’s really been updated here recently is the Links page that has been stripped bare of exciting link graphics and the like and is in no particular order. So that’s that.

For People Who Like Bad News is the album Modest Mouse will be releasing in April. For those of you who aren’t Modest Mouse fans, but are Wilco fans there is even more “good” news from the happy cohesive rock troupe: Leroy Bach is leaving the band. That’s right Wilco is completing a new album and band members are leaving. To those of you following the band this should be no surprise since Jeff Tweedy has famously not got along with Jay Farrar, Ken Coomer, and Jay Bennett. Ah! Rock’n'roll drama! It’s the best kind.
In other news
monkeyproject.com is now being regularly updated with comic strips and additional verbiage. while initially approached to be the personal blog has taken on a surly nature and refuses to submit to the mundane. For all we care, it can stay that way.
Tirade of recommendations
Here’s the short run-down of what’s on the top of my recommendation lists lately: TV series DVD boxsets, primarily those produced by Joss Whedon. I was a late comer to the Buffy-verse, but Whedon’s Buffy, Angel, and Firefly DVD’s caught me up in a hurry. Literally days of time can be devoured catching up but I recommend starting with Season 1 of Buffy (12 episodes, 45 minutes each) if you are wanting to try it out.
What else? I’ve been picking up a ton of Flaming Lips EPs and singles but that’s because, as one friend said, I’m a fan-boy. Also, I recommend huge MP3 players and KVM switches. They are mainstays of my life now. Also, I recommend Spring. I’m tired of Winter (it usually doesn’t take long for me) and I want Spring to be here already. Stupid Groundhog.

raveller.com has now moved into the blog world. This may make it easier for me to post about current events without worrying about site maintenance too much. Perhaps this means the site will be updated with pertinent information sooner.
Also raveller.com is no longer The Half Closed Eye, this site has been moved to halfclosedeye.com.
Editor’s note: re-merging has occurred

But that doesn’t mean others don’t. Go play everything on Homestar Runner’s site. If you like the Luche Libre, then you’ll love Strong Bad.
Or for alternative reading of your favorite texts try Tha Shizzolator. It’s almost as good as the The T’inator. (editor’s note: these sites no longer exist.)
